RNO plays an effective role in supporting development programmes both individually and in accordance with other governmental bodies.
Examples of services provided to local community and citizens include transporting citizens and supplies to remote coastal areas, encounter environmental pollution, protecting fisheries, conducting Hydrographic Surveys, regulating safe transit of vessels through TSS at Harmuz Strait, and rescuing fishery boats and distressed vessels.
Furthermore, RNO offers medical treatment from diving injuries, and train personal from other military and civilian authorities in the disciplines of Navigation, Communication and Administration.
A Distinct Social Climate
Sultan Bin Said Naval Base (SBSNB) is the main venue for holding activities and official celebrations organised by RNO. SBSNB is keen to ensure its residents a distinct social life through facilitating them best living and entertainment services.
Base messes work towards reinforcing the different aspects of residents social life and strengthening their ties, thus, constructively contribute towards developing an effective social climate. Proper accommodation, high quality catering and relaxing recreation are granted to all residents.
The Medical Centre at SBSNB offers residents necessary health care through an array of integrated medical services. Children spend their time in the kindergarten of the Base supervised by qualified staff. Base complex accommodates two Mosques where residents perform their rituals.
Other services provided at SBSNB include mail and banking services, in addition to a large supermarket fulfils consuming and daily needs of Base residents.
